Welcome to the Department of Pathology

It is an honor and privilege to lead our Department of Pathology as a Chair. I have worked with many of the current faculty and staff for several years as a Vice-Chair and Director of Anatomic Pathology. This is an exciting time to be in medicine and health care and I as a Chair of the Department of Pathology will continue to seize and help create opportunities for our faculty, staff, and learners in areas such as artificial intelligence, genomics, cancer research, infectious diseases and personalized medicine.

As a Chair, I want to be an advocate and a leader for innovation and excellence in pathology research, education, and clinical missions and to make the Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University achieve academic and clinical excellence. I want to help build a diverse team who will collaborate and work together to leverage state-of-the-art emerging technologies and apply new knowledge to meet the clinical needs of our patients while leading and supporting research and educational endeavors.

To accomplish these goals, the Department of Pathology will need to continue to grow services and adapt to the demand for cutting-edge technology while fostering a culture of innovation, discovery, diversity, and empathy.

Our mission and vision statement has been updated to reflect our goals:

Mission: To build an academic pathology program recognized as a local, regional and national leader in high quality diagnostics, research and education.

Vision: Working as a team we will leverage state of the art emerging technology and apply new knowledge to meet the needs of our patients while leading and supporting research and educational endeavors.
